The American international bookseller Borders Group has updated its ebook reader by adding Wi-Fi wireless connectivity and opting for setting a very affordable price as part of an aggressive commercial campaign. The new model has the same basic design of the former version with a 6-inch diagonal electronic-ink screen. It comes pre-loaded with 100 titles and has access to 2.2 millions of ebooks through the Borders online store.
Borders is the second-largest bookstore chain in the United States and has a lot of stores specialized in retail sales of books, music, movies, and leisure items. Similar to the other makers, the company is trying to get a decent market share in one of the faster growing fields at this time. For that reason, Borders is launching this e-reader, whose main attraction is a price that is comfortable for all budgets.
As mentioned before, the new Kobo incorporates Wi-Fi wireless connectivity (a very necessary feature which, incomprehensibly, was not included in the first version); that is a great progress for this gadget along with the reduced price. It has 1 Gbyte of internal storage expandable via SD cards; also it features USB connectivity and, according to the maker, the users can load about 10,000 pages with fully charged battery.
It is already available for sale, costs $139, and comes in three different colors. As said above, all of them include 100 pre-loaded titles and access to more than two million ebooks.
